About Me

My nickname is Koko and this is my blog. I didn’t plan this, but here I am. If you find me here, it means I’m taking a break from my other job. I am the Tourism Manager at a Travels and Tours company.

I am a writer. Well, maybe not as renowned as Wole Soyinka (whom I met once at Tinapa) or Chimamanda Adichie (whom I had also met once and asked a question during an interview session where she was a spotlight guest). Do I have pictures of these episodes? NO!!! Clearly, I'm an idiot. I write biographies especially on upcoming artistes and also contribute articles for magazines.

I have a sister who can also be named a Reader. Name it - encyclopedias (all about world histories), literatures (including the complete works of Shakespeare), poetry, biographies (about world’s notable figures), novels (she has more than a thousand of them), etc. I'm the opposite. I actually have about ten unfinished books and sadly, I can't remember which of them had a story about a single lady who lived in a two bedroom apartment with ten cats and a Nanny. It would have been cool to know how that ended. Yes, I love cats.  Once upon a time, there was Lulu (my family's cat). Oh so cute Lulu, who got lost in the village, and broke everyone’s heart. I hope she found a good mate. However, I did finish Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Saga and cried throughout Nicholas Sparks’ A Walk to Remember.

I have a good sense of humour, with a smudge of sarcasm. I don't take myself seriously, neither should you.

I'm sweet and charming most times, but never when I'm loudly arguing about who played better football between Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry, if Fabio Cannavaro deserved the Ballon d’Or award or who is a better coach between Wenger and Mourinho. Of course I wasn't going to forget to mention I'm a football lover, a Blaugrana Faithful and a Frank Lampard groupie. And oh (by the way), I rap too. I swear, I rap California Love better than Tupac. Don’t judge me! I have four brothers.

I eat groundnuts a lot. Maybe too much. I love crossword puzzles. I’d buy Vanguard newspapers just for that. I love Joyce Meyer (her quotes and sermons are like velvet to my soul). I’ve had one ringtone for more than a year, Prezzo’s Mimi Na Wewe. He makes me want to learn Swahili. I love music. I bought a DSTV Walka so I could watch Big Brother Africa while at the office. My best film series is Friends. My other favourite things- chewing gum, taking selfies, rainy season, my hair, Q tips. chocolates, flat footwears. I can go on, but then I don’t want to bore you.

This blog is my quest to create a place to laugh, unwind, shed a tear maybe or just to kill time.

I invite you then to come chill with me on my hill, while we eat chocolates. Know this though, I still haven't figured it all out on how to organize this page. It's still a work in progress. I promise it will be better one day.
